CSM softball alumni, Alyssa Jepsen felt right at home Friday as she coached the San Mateo Bearcats to a 7-1 victory over North Salinas High School in the first round of CCS playoffs. The game was tied at one with the Bearcats batting in the bottom of the fifth when they secured the victory. The Bearcats offense was led by Monet Scheller, Charlotte Velasquez, and Bethany Shih, all knocking in runs in the inning.
The Bearcats got things moving in the first inning, when Giuliana Selvitella doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
Sage Hager was the winning pitcher for San Mateo. She lasted seven innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out ten and walking zero.
The Bearcast advance to the CCS quarterfinals Saturday May 18th against Branham High School, weather permitting.
