Game Recap

Coming back from a two week vacation the Bearcats were ready to challenge Richmond High School and start the New Year.

After a sluggish start the Bearcats put one in the back of the net with a great shot from the left side by Jada Walker to opening the scoring. The new defensive formation shut down the offensive drives of Richmond and the first half ended 1-0.

The second half started with tough defense from the Bearcats resulting with no shots on goal the entire second half of the game. The offense continued relentless pressure and put two in the back of the net by Yeneth Pena and Darcy Frost.

With the lights on and the cold moving in the Bearcats came away with a beautiful 3-0 victory to start the 2016 year and chalked up their second win.

Game Recap

The Bearcats played with heart and determination in their first league game of the season against Sequoia High School. The Bearcats were down by as many as 9 points in the 3rd quarter, but by applying pressure on the Cherokees and executing timely steals, they got the deficit down, but unfortunately came up a little short and lost 24-20. The Bearcat defense caused the Cherokees to turn over the ball 10 times during the game, and the Bearcat offense finished strong, outscoring the Cherokees in the last two quarters of the game.

Junior Marisa Franke led the offense with 6 points, all of which came from 3-pointers, followed by Junior Stefany Canson with 4 points. Sophomore point guard Lauren Young led the defense with 6 rebounds and 6 steals, followed by Canson with 4 steals of her own.

The JV Girls play their next game at Hillsdale on Friday, January 8th at 3:15 pm. Go cheer all the Bearcat teams in their first quad game, beginning with the JV Girls, followed by the JV Boys, Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys.
