It wasn’t the most high-energy performance for the Bearcats, but they got the job done. Outplaying Mills in the first half 24-13, San Mateo came out in the third quarter rather lackadaisical, allowing Mills back into the game. Mills trailed only by 3 points near the end of the third, which put some fire under the Bearcats to step up their game. Luke Bergstrom, came off the bench for San Mateo to instigate the comeback. With some key buckets, 3 boards and a steal, Bergstrom gave the Bearcats a much needed 10 points. Guard Kyle Taruc took a fair number of shots and connected on 4 to contribute 11 points. Jackson Chew facilitated his team with a team high of 6 assists, while Aden Nolet had the game-high 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to defeat Mills.
This win puts the Bearcats in 5th place in a tight and competitive PAL South, ahead of Burlingame High School. Congratulations Bearcats! May they use this momentum to extract more dubs in their last 3 contests.
