A team of 10 swimmers and divers attended the CCS Trials & Finals at the International Swim Center in Santa Clara on Friday, May 3 & Saturday, May 4.
For the first time San Mateo had a dive team member qualify and participate in CCS. Kate Shanberge earned a spot to the CCS Dive Meet and competed very early on Friday morning. She was able to complete her first five dives and unfortunately didn’t move on to complete the remaining seven dives, but this is quite an accomplishment for our inaugural season!!
The Varsity Girls 200 Medley Relay finished as the 17th seed with a best time of 1:52.70. (Emma Lepisova, Emily Chinn, Cecilia Quan and Kalyn Chang.
Emma Lepisova swam in the Varsity Girls 200 Individual Medley (IM), she broke the school record on Friday with a time of 2:04.85 after breaking her own school record at the PAL Trials with a time of 2:05.99. Emma finished at the CCS finals in 7th place and earned a spot at the CIF State Swim Meet in Fresno this weekend.
Ollie Spittle, Varsity Boys, swam the 200 Individual Medley (IM) with a time of 2:00.88, and dropped almost 2 seconds of his best time this season.
Cecilia Quan, Varsity Girls, swam the 100 Butterfly with a time of 59.88.
The Varsity Girls 200 Freestyle Relay (Emily Chinn, Kalyn Chang, Cecilia Quan, Emma Lepisova), finished 21st, and just .09 off their best time.
Kalyn Chang swam in the 100 Backstroke and earned a season best with a time of 1:00.94 by dropping almost a full second on her best time.
Emma Lepisova finished in the Varsity Girls 100 Backstroke as the 3rd place finisher in the Championship heat and earning an All American Consideration time. She will continue on to the CIF State Swim Meet in Fresno this weekend.
The Varsity Girls 400 Freestyle Relay (Elsa Servantez, Jennifer Ding, Cecilia Quan, Kalyn Chang), finished with a time of 3:52.23.
