San Mateo High School
In spite of the loss the Bearcats played their most complete conference game of the season thus far, hanging with Woodside Priory till the very end. San Mateo erased a three goal deficit with 3:14 to go to tie the game late in the fourth quarter, aided by some stellar goaltending from Colton Finn, a strong defense effort despite Woodside having a two man advantage late in the fourth, and some timely San Mateo goals. The comeback effort was unfortunately put to rest when Priory scored the decisive goal with 15 seconds to go.
The Bearcats received scoring contributions from five different scorers, including hat tricks by Jacob Wetherbee and Joey Borges. Angelo Castillo and Preston Lo contributed multi-goal games with an additional offensive tally by Jacob Jow.
San Mateo returns to the pool on Tuesday against Mills in the final home game of the season. The senior day game will get underway at 5 p.m.
