Meet Recap

The Varsity Girls faced their toughest opponent north of Atherton when they faced-off against Carlmont. The Bearcats and the Scots were in a tie for second place going into the match. With the score of the last meeting between the two teams being 4-3, both knew they would have tough match ahead.

Seniors and Co-Captains Aida Lowe and Lauren Young got the 1st win for San Mateo, winning 6-2, 6-3 to remain undefeated with their 9th win. Singles #2, Freshman Sarah Fung-Smith had long rallies with her Scot opponent but came up with winning shots to get the second victory for the Bearcats, winning in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.

Singles #3, Senior and Co-Captain Tessa Chou lost the first set, but came back strong to win the second set 6-0. After close to 90 minutes of play, Chou closed it out with a 6-2 third-set win.

The deciding match was on the Doubles #2 court, where Sophomores Jeevika Adda and Nicole Hong came back after losing the first set in a tie-breaker. Adda and Hong battled each point and took the second set 6-4 to force a third set. Despite San Mateo having momentum on its side, Carlmont unfortunately came back to win the third set 2-6 and the match, ending the longest match of the season which lasted over two hours.
