Meet Recap

The Varsity Girls finished their pre-season with a nice shut-out win against Crystal Springs. San Mateo had one win under its belt before the match even started, when the Gryphons forfeited the Singles #4 spot. On the remaining Singles courts, the Bearcats finished off the Gryphons in straight sets in less than an hour of play. Singles #1, Sophomore Grace Wang, and Singles #3, Senior Tessa Chou remained undefeated, dropping only 3 games each and winning 6-3, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-2, respectively. Freshman Sarah Fung-Smith had an easy win, dropping only 2 games in her 6-2, 6-0 win.

Seniors Aida Lowe and Lauren Young got their 4th straight win as Doubles #1, this time 6-3, 6-1. On the Doubles #3 court, Sophomores Jeevika Adda and Nicole Hong dropped only two games in their first win in the pre-season. Doubles #2, Senior Emily McHugh and Junior Mahak Bindal dropped their first set, but finished strong with a nice comeback in the 2nd set 6-2, and a win in the super tiebreaker 10-7, to close it out for the Bearcats.

The Bearcats start their regular season at home this Thursday against Hillsdale. Go Mateo!
