Game Recap

The Varsity Girls tried for their 5th win in a row and 8th in their last 9 games when they faced Mills in their last League game of the season. Strong defense on both sides kept the scoring low, with only a total of 9 points scored combined in the first quarter. The Bearcats kept pace with the Vikings in the 1st half of the 2nd quarter, but with key turnovers, Mills was able to pull ahead 15-7 at the half.

In the 3rd quarter, the Bearcat offense kicked in and San Mateo scored more in that one quarter than they had in the first half. In the 4th quarter, defensive pressure by the Bearcats kept the Vikings to only 3 points, while they outscored them 6-3. But, despite a hard fought battle in the end, San Mateo came up a tad short, losing 22-28.

Senior Alyssa Cho, who has led the Bearcats in offense in all games this season but one, scored 9 points, followed by her other senior teammates, Seini Fakava and Mimi Shen with 5 and 4 points. Junior Katie Osaki came up with 7 rebounds, followed by Cho with 6. Five different Bearcats stole the ball from the Vikings, with Freshman Trinity Mahoney getting 2 of the 6 total steals.

While League play for the Varsity Girls has ended, they look forward to the upcoming CCS tournament. Go Bearcats!
