Jessica Stacy became the Head Athletic Trainer at San Mateo High School in August of 2016. She was raised in Salinas where she played basketball and softball for North Salinas High School. Jessica was introduced to the profession of athletic training during her first years of college at California State University, Hayward. She graduated from San Jose State University after completing its Undergraduate Athletic Training Education Program in 2009. She has been a BOC Certified AT since July 2009.  Jessica is currently in her last trimester of school through University of St. Augustine to obtain her master’s degree in health sciences in athletic training. She has previous experience as a physical therapist’s aide and a personal trainer. Most recently, she was employed by MORE Physical Therapy, Inc. where she provided athletic training services for Lincoln High School in San Jose, Los Gatos High School, The Spirit of the Flame gymnastics competition, and the Stanford Treethlon. She is also an ImPACT Trained Athletic Trainer.
As a certified athletic trainer, Jessica is a healthcare professional who is trained in the prevention, diagnosis, and intervention of emergency, acute and chronic medical conditions. She offers services in preventative medicine, rehabilitation, early recognition and evaluation of athletic injuries, wound care, concussion testing and evaluation, and more. Jessica’s hours change depending on the season and sporting events of the days; however, she is typically available daily from the hours of 11:30am-7:00pm.

AED Locations

Portable/Athletic Training Facility This AED will be with the Athletic Trainer at all times, or otherwise stored in the Athletic Training Room in the large grey cabinet on the left side of the desk.
Main Gymnasium Located in the front hallway on the north-east wall in the lobby/foyer. Includes O2
Building A Located in the Admin building across from the library. Entering the A building, it is on the north side of the wall across from the attendance office. Includes O2
Building C Located in the C building across from the multi-purpose room. Entering the end of the building closest to the biotechnology building, it is on the wall next to the door. Includes O2
Building E Located in the E building adjacent to the pool and weight room. Entering through the doors by the Spirit Lawn, it is mounted on the wall between the Athletic Training Room and Coaches’ Office.
Performing Arts Center

There are 5 AEDs on campus, and one with the Athletic Trainer. The AEDs in the Gym, A building, and C building also have emergency oxygen.  
       Emergency Vehicle Access: The Emergency vehicles will enter through the entrances on N Delaware Street to get to the stadium field, tennis courts, the softball field, the gym, and the pool. For baseball, N Humboldt Street will be utilized.

Athletic Training Room:

The athletic training room consists of two treatment tables, an ice machine, and a stocked inventory of first aid, safety, and rehabilitation items.

Dr. Abeyta is an Orthopedic Surgon and Sports Medicine physician. Dr. Abeyta has been the team physician for San Mateo High School since 2010 and seen and treated Bearcats over the years. He specializes in sports injuries and has a specific philosophy of care, “I believe that excellent outcomes can be achieved with clear communication and treatment plans that are tailored to the individual needs of the patient. I emphasize injury prevention and utilize a multidisciplinary team which includes highly trained physical therapists and certified athletic trainers. Careful diagnostic evaluation, compassionate care, and application of current medical information and surgical technique are all important for returning patients to their pre-injury level of activity.”

All health packets and physicals are done through the health clerk. All athletes must be medically cleared by a physician prior to the start of the season.

How to complete the Athletic Packets online:

  1. Go to
  2. Scroll down the homepage and click on “Athletic Packets” link on the left hand side
  3. Click on “San Mateo” in the center of the page
  4. Create a username & password on SportsNet (if you haven’t already) or log-in to your created account
  5. Fill out the entire Athletic Packet (you should soon receive a confirmation email that packet is complete)
