Game Recap

The San Mateo Bearcats oust Salinas High School with a 7-0 win in the first round of CCS playoffs. The Bearcats were firing on all cylinders with strong offense, defense, and pitching. Sophia Jaro started the upset with a 2-run home run in the second inning. From there, the bats never quit. The Bearcats racked up 11 hits in the game with Monet Scheller and Jada Walker each collecting multiple hits. Kendall Richards, Jordan Seyfried, Isabelle Borges, Kylie Galea, and Julia Cerreta followed suit with one hit apiece. Jaro and Scheller led the team with 2 RBIs and Seyfried added one RBI. Defensively, every play was executed with precision. The highlight of the game came when centerfielder Jada Walker threw a laser to catcher Monet Scheller to tag out the only threatened run at the plate! Isabelle Borges earned the win for the Bearcats. She pitched 7 inning, surrendering zero runs, seven hits, two walks, and striking out four. I am so proud of these girls, every player contributed today-Coach Jepsen.
